Who We Are Looking For

Check out what qualities help a staff person thrive internationally and read testimonies from current and former staff about their experiences.

Humble Learners

Living in a new culture is an amazing experience. But it is also incredibly humbling! Humility will take you far as you learn new norms, languages and experience life from different perspectives.

Kingdom-minded servants

The best way to “succeed” in cross-cultural living and ministry is to adopt a Kingdom mindset. We are a ministry seeking to work alongside the global Church and build Jesus’ Kingdom around the world.

Community Builders

Community is key! From the beginning to end, you’ll be building community. First, of prayer and financial supporters to get you to your assignment and cheer you on in your ministry. Then, of local, indigenous leadership who can carry on the ministry far beyond your international assignment.

Go-Getters

Entrepreneurial, proactive, self-starters thrive in international ministry. These qualities will shine as you build and grow ministry and reach students and families with the gospel of Jesus.

Visionaries, Disciplers, Recruiters

Every international staff person is asked to have a map (vision for their ministry), a tree (discipleship plan) and a list (people to pray for and include in the mission). These are cornerstones of our international ministry.

Adaptable Adventurers

Flexibility is a key component in living and ministering cross-culturally. Bring your adaptable and adventurous attitude with you as you take on this new challenge.

“When I first considered doing Young Life internationally, I didn’t know if I had what it takes to live overseas. Through the discernment process and the equipping that I received from Young Life, I was able to thrive both personally and in ministry internationally. I’m incredibly grateful that Young Life International took the time to walk with me as we prayed and thought about how I fit in what God is doing through Young Life around the world.”

“This experience has been so meaningful not only for my spouse and I, but also for our kids. We’ve gotten to learn a new language together, grown closer as a family, and learned more about how big Jesus really is. The fact that Young Life realizes that there are certain needs of families in the international field and has opportunities to meet those needs is a huge blessing. We feel supported and equippednot only as staff people but also as parents. Our family will never be the same.”

“Nothing that I’ve experienced creates such an opportunity to learn and grow in dependence on God. International Young Life staff was the crucible that God used to refine me in ways that I didn’t even know I needed refining. I love Jesus more and can’t imagine my life without the depth and grace that I have experienced in my time on staff.”

“Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.”
— 1 Corinthians 15:58
